Hello!

 

My name is Dora and I'm a painter and illustrator from Stroud, Gloucestershire but I'm now based in Cardiff, Wales.

After an art foundation at Stroud College, I moved to Cardiff in 2016 to study BA Design for Performance at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. I specialised in Scenic Painting for Television, Film and Theatre. Post-graduation I worked freelance as a scenic artist painting sets for television and theatre, Including the second series of the BBC's and HBO's His Dark Materials.

 

For the last couple of years, my scenic work has been put aside and my own personal creative projects have come to the forefront. I am working as an illustrator, primarily using digital media, and I have been rediscovering my love for painting and portraiture.

The inspirations for my illustration work come from a mixing pot of divine feminine energy, the natural world and our connections with it, folklore, storytelling, spirituality and my love of wild, weathered women and wild, weathered animals. I love creating images of strong, hardy, empowered women and exploring the line where the beauty and softness meets strength and power, in both ourselves and the natural world.
